2007 Budgewoi Open

another year and another Budgewoi Open has come and gone. Despite the rain not affecting the game, it's fair to say that tennis was the loser this year, while the local chicken shop may have been the winner. Hmmmm, not a good sign boys. And as has become custom, Ronaldo Joyce took out the annual body surfing competition, with Dave running in a credible second.

Ghost Rider, Match Point and Underworld all got a viewing, but in a slight variation this year, not only were movies watched but the finishing touches were put on the latest "Love Your Work" production (photo of Director Joyce hard at work above) - rumoured to be tentatively entitled "The Grave Secret of Prairie Dog Hill".

Wayne surprised everyone by only being 6 hours late this year, while the character of the whole Open was diminished by the absence of Greyham "I-think-I'm-going-to-die" Stoney.

The organisers were happy to declare 2007 -
"the most relaxed Budgewoi Open ever"

(other than the part where Charger managed to get all the way to Budgewoi before remembering to check for the keys)

Yes a much more relaxed Open this year but as always had some wonderful bits.

The G Stoney award this year is definitely the Charger's. Getting to Budgewoi and forgeting the keys is a cracker but it was all good as Reggie and Ronnie got to check out Eva and Nick in Ghost Rider.

Wayne was earlier than expected, then fell asleep during the movie....again! But did manage to have a night off from the girls.

Jono was busy playing with the Prairie Dog while having the wind blow through his new rashie shirt. But the highlight was seeing Jono running around the room waiting for the slow train wreck that was Match Point to end.
Thank you Scarlet for your amazing beauty, you will stay with us forever.

Ray was there in spirit.

Dave was just a winner on the court and in the surf after making one of the biggest purchases of his life, no not Marlene, the house.

As for Ronnie...anytime out is awesome time and with the Wally Woofer Open (as the Budgewoi Open is now called)at an end we shall now plan for next year just to make sure that we can all be there for the whole weekend......

I think the 2008 open should hereon be referred to as the 2008 "Diamond Ray Hickson Invitational" Budgewoi Open!

Oh, that last comment was from me, by the way. (Graham!). Well, I know who I am, anyway. Or do I?

why wasn't there any opportunity to pick up chicks? No chance for me to flash my cheeky grin and twinkle my blue eyes at the local talent?

My gifts are being wasted...

but there's always next year!
