I've finally made the jump across to digital photography. With a couple of weddings coming up this summer the cost of film development is just getting too much. So I've taken the leap and, in my newfound holiday status, have begun to play...

Some software problems (other than no photoshop as yet) - but I'm still working my way around this new dimension of photography

Who knew Shelob lived in my backyard?

If you can't get photoshop - try a program called the Gimp at www.gimp.org

Thanks guys! Jeff, as always i've followed your lead. Got the new Canon 350d - that way most of my lenses from the film SLR will transfer across. Unfortunately the wide angle lens and the flash won't :( - but plenty to work with.

Are you using Photoshop? which version? (and yes Bootsy and Darren I will check out gimp)

[reminder to self: don't wear black and yellow to the wedding, and remember to shave your legs...]

i've tried gimp. it did a lot, but i found it quite un-intuitive and tricky to use... but then my mind works differently to most...

there's no need to respond to that.

johno

just get photoshop. you can buy academic. there is no other way. believe me.

Gimp is a background character in Lord of the Rings (likewise on my computer). Supposedly helpful, but just you try to find someone who hasnt lost a finger...

actually, you've inspired me to dust off the Olympus OM-2n and bugger the digital era! (I thought you were digital already.... I am completely ignoring references to Canon.... )
